Okay this sounds horrific and I will be honest and say I don't know what he stands for. However the obesity epidemic is out of control and I feel he is a bad example for that. I feel we shouldn't be rewarding people for horrible behavior.

I agree. There was a big movement towards having people love their fat bodies in the 1990s. It is very apparent that we now have a epidemic going on and it needs to be addressed. Sitting on one's ass and being fat is not good for an individual or society as a whole as these people require extensively more medical care.

When I see obese people like Christie I immediately judge other aspects of their character. They come off as lazy and lacking in devotion or work ethic.

Then don't for him.

I will. I look beyond color, fat, etc.

It's obviously unhealthy, but I also don't think it's my business. In fact, I try to pipe up and object when my fellow liberals call him a fat slob and stuff like that. I think he's a terrible person, but his size has nothing to do with it.

I can't name a single person in elected office who I would consider a "good example" or someone I would want as a role model for my children.

He lost 40 pounds after that. I think he's slimmed down a bit since then as well. He looked slimmer at his press conference than in times past and he did mention that he's working out.

Judging people by their appearance is wrong. I bet at least 50% of people on this web site could stand to lose a few pounds. I bet 100% of us love someone with a weight problem. Should we judge one another based on that or by our ideas and good will?

His weight could work in his favor. People may be more able to identify with him.
Then again...
Who knows? In 2 years he could be half the man he once was.
