The private school operator took over 2 million of tax payer money and then left the students high and dry.

No accountability.

MILWAUKEE -- A private school in Milwaukee has shut down, but not before collecting two million dollars of tax payer dollars.

Lifeskills Academy, a small kindergarten through eighth grade school, joined the state's voucher program five years ago and collected more than two million dollars in public payments.

Vouchers are just another form of welfare, better to give tax credits for those who want their children out of the government run education propoganda centers.

There is solutions to problems like this such as requiring they be bonded.

Meanwhile because of a strike the absenteeism over the Christmas holiday was 75% at the local school... Lot of learning going on there.

Frank one thing I think is imperative we do as a nation is educate our children but we need some major changes in how we do that. I don't see it as welfare and certainly vouchers are no different than public schools. You're paying for the student one way or the other. It's funny the OP mentions accountability because if there is one thing vouchers do is make the schools accountable to the parents.

This has nothing to do with vouchers. It very well could have been a military supply company supplying items to the military, or a publication printing IRS tax forms.

There's another thread about a NYC Public School principal that didn't show up for work for 9 years.
The kids have no books and watch movies.
And in spite of not showing up she got overtime pay.

How's that for accountability ?

The article said $200K.

Before closing, the school collected more than $200,000 in taxpayer money this academic year. The school will not get its final two voucher payments from the state, according to the state.
