I have been trying to find(without much success) the topic of a prime time speech President Regan gave on March 19, 1987. It was a Thursday evening and in a bit of controversy some CBS stations in the state of Florida pre empted the speech to show the University of Florida Mens basketball team in a sweet 16 game in the NCAA tourney at the same time. The question is what was the topic of the speech. By the way, Howard Cosell on his old speaking of sports program went on a rant about the pre emption of the speech the next morning. And FWIW this is not a trolling thread or an initent to start a flame war. I simply want the topic of the speech that evening.

BTW, on that day, the President stood in front of the Berlin Wall and told the Russian Premier, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" I don't know where Regan, who was by then the Chief of Staff, was at the time.

I believe the overall topic of the President's speech was renewing negotiations on nuclear weapons.

Who knows. I remember it partially because of the Howard Cosell rant the next morning on his sepaking of sports program with the 6 Florida CBS stations running a Florida basketball game over the President of the United States.

Oops, the President gave the "Tear down this wall" speech on June 12, 1987, not in February. Sorry, I was wrong.

And I still don't know where Donald Regan was.

Donald Regan was Treasury Secretary during the 1st term and was President Reagan's chief of staff until he was forced out as a consequence of the Iran-Contra affair. He also got into a power struggle with Nancy and lost.
