If the idiot thought he got shellacked in the last midterm, it promises to be almost a rout this time around.
President Obama didn't get shellacked in the midterms, he wasn't running.
This not a partisan opinion, but objective reality, whenever President Obama has been on the national ballot, the Democratic party on those election days has done very well twice. Both times they won the Presidency and picked up seats in both houses of Congress.
Now objectively the problem for Democrats in the midterm elections is voter turnout.
The difference between 2008 and 2010 was that at least 40million fewer voters voted in 2010 than in 2008.
If there is high voter turnout for midterm elections the Democratic party will do ok. If there is low or even average voter turnout for midterm elections, the Democratic party will do horribly bad.
How can he duck and hide? He wasn't on the ballot.
And because of that there were 40million fewer voters in 2010 than in 2008, that is the difference between those two elections.
In 2012, when he was on the ballot that were about 36million more voters in 2012 than in 2010 and the Democratic party won the Presidency and picked up more seats in Congress.
This is objective reality. Whenever President Obama has been running in a national election and is on the ballot the Democratic party has done very good to great.

Irrelevant. Obama is not on the ballot. History tells us that Democrats do bad in the midterms.
Plus, you underestimate the power of the first black President on the ticket to begin with. Democrats don't expect those numbers to hold steady in the future unless another minority is on the ticket.

You can split that hair all you want. Fact is his party got whacked in the midterms and he lost his majority in both sides of the aisle. Suddenly after that, being well-spoken and clean doesn't cut it anymore.

How do you lose a majority "on both sides of the aisle?" And how is 40m voters "splitting hairs?"

I don't know if history says the Democratic party does badly in the midterms. I disagree. Right now, the midterms are difficult for the Democratic party because of voter turnout, that was not always the case.
I don't know what the Democratic party expects to hold steady in the future. I was discussing the midterm elections.
The future of the Democratic party is a whole other topic.
