I am a republican and I disagree with Shapiro's assessment of the reason for Hoffman's death. Shapiro speaks as a man who has no experience with addiction or mental illness. Good for him.
Unfortunately, most of us mortals have experience with them, either personally or with loved ones, and the issues of addiction and mental illness such as depression are infinitely more complicated, and tragic, than "sin" or will power.
People die of self induced drug use every day. Lots of people with sound moral structure abuse drugs...they just dont put needles in their arm, they instead go to their doctor and complain of pain, anxiety, or sleeplessness.
Or they self-medicate with alcohol and kill themselves more slowly. Having been married for 22 years to an alcoholic who definitely leaned to the conservative side, I can assure you addiction has nothing to do with where one stands politically.

I turn it off immediately when I see a 'young turk' whining. They have no credibility.
No kidding. It's pretty sad when we need someone here to repeat what a young turk repeated that they heard repeated somewhere else.
And they wonder why we laugh at them!
Hoffman's death is the responsibility of nobody but himself. Granted he worked in an industry that glorifies drugs, but he could have walked away. I don't feel an ounce of sympathy when those morons off themselves.

I find it ridiculous that they've already arrested 4 people who may have supplied this addict his drugs, as if they're to blame. Another SNAFU in this war on drugs.
It's quite telling how fast they found these so-called criminals, yet are bumbling fools when it comes to IRS targeting, Benghazi, and NSA data mining. It's a f'kn tale of two worlds!
