Calvin Coolidge was a great president and Man. He understood that hard work, values and moral compassion are what America needs to be great.

It may be nearly impossible to ever get a man like Coolidge to get elected again with what has happened but one can only hope. Persistence is a virtue but it seems like the current mass of people controlling the voting pool are persistent in the wrong ways and ideals.

One can only hope that someone like him comes along and can benefit this country with real hope and change that truly help solve problems instead of putting band aids on the gaping wounds we have.

LOL. So we can have another Great Depression?

I'm sure we're all looking forward to that.

Mitt Romney tried, but was rejected because he was not "cool" enough for the leeches.

Yeah exactly we need a president who does nothing as large businesses and the finance industry completely destablize the American economy. We need that just like we need a president who does nothing as the whole thing inevitably implodes. The only good that will come out of something like that is the potential for a modern day FDR.

Trying to defeat a President whose most ergegious act was to sign Universal Health Care into law,
by running an opposition candidate who had signed Universal Health Care into law, probably wasn't one of the Republicans' brighter ideas.

It was the main reason Romney lost.

Hm..

American President: Calvin Coolidge: Impact and Legacy
Quote:
Although the public liked and admired Calvin Coolidge during his tenure, the Great Depression that began in 1929 seriously eroded his reputation and changed public opinion about his policies. Many linked the nation's economic collapse to Coolidge's policy decisions. His failure to aid the depressed agricultural sector seems shortsighted, as nearly five thousand rural banks in the Midwest and South shut their doors in bankruptcy while many thousands of farmers lost their lands. His tax cuts contributed to an uneven distribution of wealth and the overproduction of goods. Many Americans were deeply in debt for having purchased consumer goods on easy installment credit terms.
Why does this sound so familiar?

Of course I understand the appeal of the man to today's screaming cons. Let the free market reign and all will be fine!

Oh, um… wait. Except that it wasn't fine.

Never mind, ignore that decade after Cal! Nothing to see here, move along! We don't want you to notice that we have exactly the same fate in mind for you peons that Cal and his buddies did rolling into 1929!

The government should not be in the business of protecting ignorance and/or greed. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is subjective. Calvin knew this, the current majority of voters do not. There are many reason. This country is in for a world of hurt when inflation starts happening. It has only begun. What will you left wingers excuses be then?

FYI, He was born on the fourth of July too!

Calvin Coolidge was your typical, frugal, common-sense, Yankee, Vermonter back when Vermont was a rock-ribs republican conservative state and the cows outnumbered the people.

The last Conservative President, this nation has had.
A President that lead us to the greatest prosperity, a nation has ever known.

Too bad Hoover and his big government ideas, skrewed it all up.

No, Romney was just a terrible candidate who was out of touch with the average person who isn't a wingnut. Case closed
