Hurling snowballs is a winter pastime for some kids, but for a 13-year-old Chicago boy it's become a felony offense.

Chicago police say a 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with a felony for throwing a snowball at a police officer after a West Side elementary school let out Wednesday afternoon.

Harrier thought that you were looking for great news.

Why not find a story about the rain we are finally going to get later this week in California?

Fill the reservoirs!

I got tired of the reading when it never said what the exact charge felony was. I think perhaps alot is missing for it to be a felony in either damage or injury. Let a jury decide instead of us from a poorly written article.

copy & paste from the article:

"The eighth-grader, who is facing a felony charge of battery to a police officer,..."

The boy also said the snowball did not hit the officer, but hit his car.

IMO, the officer is a fool, and should not be trusted with a baton, much less a gun. Any prosecutor who takes this any further is also a fool, and should lose his job and his license to practice law!

Police sometimes do go overboard, it doesn't mean it will stand up even at arriagnment.

The cop should certainly have some retraining.

The cop, and people getting all riled up about it, should get a life and find something more important to do than outrage.

Felony? Really?

Cops can kill people and not even get charged but hit one with a snowball and its a felony.

The cop was never hit with a snowball. The felony charge was because the snowball had landed on his vehicle. Although, at this point, there's no actual proof the kid was the one who threw it.

Wow. Really? Don't they more important things to worry about in Chicago. The kid should be sent to junior detention center or some kind of after school program but giving him a felony instead is a waste.

Too bad it wasn't a grenade instead of a snowball! Poor sensitive cop! Like Gtownoe stated above, cops murder and maim people all the time and get slapped on the wrist, if that!
