""Therefore, instead of raising prices on our products to generate the additional revenue needed to cover the cost of ACA compliance, Gator's Dockside has implemented a 1 percent surcharge on all food and beverage purchases only," the notice adds."
From the link
What the hell??? What do they think that surcharge is? It's a price increase!!!! And what's with this "on food and beverage purchases only"? What else do they sell?

They are a sports bar restaurant so probably sell tshirts and cups and other nicknacks.
Then you also have your restaurant gift cards.
See the way it works is if I go into a restaurant and order a dish priced at $10 on the menu than $10 is all I have to pay. You can't raise the price afterward or add surcharges, unless the customer was informed of the surcharges beforehand

You have to pay tax or did you forget that ?
And I've posted that the restaurant is alerting people before they order.
Better to keep it off the menu for when it goes up next year since premiums will rise according to the CBO.
That 1% may need to go to 2% or even 3%.
maybe the restaurant should have cut hours instead so they didn't have to offer insurance and then you'd be happy that they didn't have to have customers pay "their fair share" ?
LOL. I think if you are willing to pay $15 for a salad and tea, a 13 cent surcharge is not going to make you vote republican. Obviously political ploy and that is what will cost them customers--not a surcharge of a couple of cents.
I wonder if Dockside is owned by John Schnatter?
You know, Papa John? Who gravely warned that he'd have to add 14c to the cost of every pizza sold if "Obamacare" went through, and then blew millions of dollars giving away free pizzas in the aftermath?
