INHO - someone, like over 50%, in that unfortunate crowd should have been carrying a gun and used it to stop that assailant before he killed anyone. That is what an armed population is for.
Except the attack in that Chinese station was by a GROUP of men armed with knives. That's why five of them were shot dead by police and several others are being sought after.

Also as much as you think citizens armed with guns can stop such an attack, think of how much more deadly an attack this would've been if these murderers were armed with guns as well. In a nation like China where its mostly gun free, there's absolutely no reason to arm its citizens when the amount of crime and murder is so low even with serious knife attacks occuring every now and then.

In the US however the situation is different and having citizens armed wouldn't be such a bad idea.

The thought of the general public "protecting itself" scares me. What could possibly go wrong when people with guns are allowed to shot when feeling threatened

Who says they couldn't get a gun if they wanted one?

Think China doesn't have gun running?

What's your point? It sure sounds like you are implying that, if the gun-grabbers get their way and actually manage to take away our rights, then it will be utopia because only one-third as many people will die per murderer in one of these killing sprees.

So basically: slightly less death + loss of American civil rights = win, according to the gun grabbers? Sure sounds like a fair trade to me...

so now you want to ban religions. unfortunately that wont work, they will just go underground. governments have tried that in the past with no results.

which menas two eight round magazines loaded with .45acp rounds would have ended the attack.

in point of fact the US military DOES use knives. the marines as far as i know still use the K bar, as does the navy and the army. makes for a nice way to eliminate sentries quietly.

Harrier doesn't know what reports of the Columbine shooting you are using, but the official death toll was 13(12 students and one teacher).

Organized attacks = slightly less deaths
Daily life = far more deaths
