Putin is a thug but he's the real deal.... a political animal that's smart as well as tough. Obama's like a 3 pound toy poodle. He's not particularly bright, either. We have nothing to try to bluff Putin with. We have a dolt as Secretary of State, a dolt as POTUS. Things have already been worked out but if we had some real leaders these types of situations wouldn't be sprung on beleaguered people in different countries.

Oh my goodness. You all have really bit into the apple here. Putin has made a mistake. After riding high as Mr. Hospitality on Sochi, he invaded another country. He will gain nothing he would not have otherwise or could have achieved through peaceful negotiation at the expense of billions in lost wealth for his oligarchs, loss of esteem around the world (well maybe not with dim-witted nutters in the US), a Europe that no longer trusts him at all and will cleave to the west even more. Western Ukraine and the adjacent countries, especially, will detest and distrust Russia for generations. And you think he is so smart. Oh my goodness.

What's scary is Obama may be a dolt, but he's a dolt with nuclear weapons. He has a complete jacka$$ for Secretary of State and he's been busily weeding the military of anyone who doesn't agree with him. Weak president's make serious miscalculations, especially with the crew he has in the White House. They may be brilliant at running elections, but the first thing Obama did when he got into office was alienate the Brits. I doubt we have many friends out there right now.

We're working with Russia.

The deal was cinched; Russia gets Ukraine, we get . . . Syria?

Syriously?

Syriously!

I'm going to have to get a new map of the oil and gas pipelines.

You think he really cares about that? He wants to regain lost SU territory and he doesn't care who he pisses off to meet that goal.

Obama on the other hand will dither around with characteristic massive indecisiveness before he opts to do nothing. That's all the world is expecting from a once well-respected country. That's one thing Obama's foreign policy accomplished, the disdain of the rest of the world.

Putin doesn't appear to be shaking in his boots. He has sent at least one warship to Cuba, and also is making a presence in Venezuela, we read. These actions should receive a response from a responsible U.S. President — but Obama has so far done nothing, said nothing, and probably will do nothing. He is putting us in danger. Does anybody notice or care?
