It has been discovered since the 2010 elections, that the federal government has paid people posting on internet forums, discussion boards and chat rooms.

I bet you can see who is a paid plant, within the forums here.

Those that post topics, never to return to defend their biased position?

We have plenty of trolling, but most are not working for the government. A few are can you pick them out?

You've probably run into them before -- those seemingly random antagonist who always end up diverting the conversation in an online chat room or article comment section away from the issue at hand, and towards a much different agenda. Hot-button issues like illegal immigration, the two-party political system, the "war on terror" and even alternative medicine are among the most common targets of such attackers, known as internet "trolls" or "shills," who in many cases are nothing more than paid lackeys hired by the federal government and other international organizations to sway and ultimately control public opinion.

Federal government routinely hires internet trolls, shills to monitor chat rooms, disrupt article comment sections

There are a few on here I have suspected are paid by Obama. They attack the messenger and try to get the thread onto another subject when a poster is being effective in discussion. The hours they post are pretty consistent which would go with a salary. Best way to deal with them is to ignore them.

Too be sure. In addition to drive by op/trolling, the obvious ones are the rapid fire, and nauseatingly detailed posts, that include pwog-only citations.

I noticed quite a few people disappeared after the election.

That seems pretty ridiculous to me. The notion that anyone could change anyone else's mind on this forum, at least, seems preposterous. Maybe there are groups where a thoughtful exchange of ideas goes on and there is enough open-mindedness that posters, paid or otherwise could influence opinion. Not P&OC. This one is for entertainment only.

You are right. In fact a lot on left have moved on.

Still you still wonder how some people do spend so much time online and make wild claims.
