This is a story that the national and even the local media here is not reporting that much on, maybe because it makes a Democrat look bad. How is Earl Ray Tomblin going to convince us he is tough on drug abuse, particularly prescription drug abuse which is a serious problem here in West Virginia, when his own brother is a drug dealer?
Whenever a Republican has a scandal the national media is immediately over it, and now this liberal Democrat has a scandal and its all but ignored by the liberal media. The political climate cultivated by Tomblin and other Democrats here have given his brother and others in this crime family a sense of impunity and invincibility. Aside from this one time, Tomblin has refused to speak about his brother just like Obama has refused to discuss his illegal alien aunt.
I think the Tomblin will use his connections to help his brother avoid jail, the way Obama 's illegal aunt hasn't been deported yet. We should be putting more pressure on Earl Ray Tomblin and his family over this.
The family is involved with other things that I have problems with but he is guilty of something because his brother is?
He is somehow responsible for his brothers actions?
His response to his brother's crime is also very telling. Also what his brother does reflects on the family values of the entire Tomblin family. This is a state where church and moral values are very important. Also how Earl is handling this is very corrupt. He has failed to denounce his brother the way Obama has failed to denounce his illegal criminal alien aunt who is on welfare. Unless the brother gets the maximum sentence possible I will be convinced that the governor pulled some strings on his behalf.

There is no such thing as collective guilt and he said nothing most people wouldn't say about their brother.

Denounce his brother? If I said what I wanted to right now it would get deleted.
I saw the report on TV. I assumed that ABC would pick up the story from their affiliate if the wanted to. It's not much different from the story a few months ago when the mayor's son got arrested on drug charges. I don't know why one warrants a thread in P&OC and the other doesn't, other than perhaps because the mayor is a Republican. Who knows? That story didn't seem to make the mayor look bad, and I don't see how this reflects badly on the Governor, other than, perhaps, a poor choice for a brother. So far, crime seems to be close to his family, but I haven't seen it hit the Governor in the face yet. It is true that his family collects lots of money from the lottery proceeds for their racing dog breeding program, and that certainly looks suspicious, but has not resulted in charges.
Blaming the Governor for his brother's wrongdoing makes about as much sense as blaming Jimmie Carter because Billy liked to drink beer.
BTW, my view is that church and morals are no more prominent in WV than in neighboring states, even though WV is the only state where it is legal to handle poisonous snakes during church services. Morals in WV are atrocious. Just look at the politicians the citizens keep electing over and over. The Manchin and Moore families come to mind.

Illegal or not this is the problem I have with him. Also, he's hardly a "liberal".

Tell that to the German people who were collectively tarnished as "Nazis" and made to suffer after WW2.
