Lack of perfection is no excuse for advocating making things worse than they are now.

"lack of perfection" nice word play.
Ceding control to criminal$ who staff regulatory agencies and legislatures is never an appropriate answer. Individuals should decide whats best for them.

Lying about things because you don't get your own way doesn't add to your credibility - quite the opposite.

STUPIDITY ALERT>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

This news item refers to THE Canadian Government. Not the American Government. Got that part now ?

In any case, I bet that not many Americans have ever had a mouth full of Irn Brew. If they had they would know that it is a clone of Red Bull, made in Scotland. Its crap. It is sold as a hang over remedy, in Scotland.

And , just for the record, Canada is a separate and independent country, that has it's own laws and regulations about food safety. Get over it.

I think you're missing the point: The United States and Canada do have their own laws and regulations about food safety, however, both have moral obligations to their citizens to apply reasonable measures in that regard. They may do things a little differently, but the same sorts of things you see in Canada you should naturally see in the United States, to a greater or lesser extent. Therefore, the big picture of this matter can be discussed without really worrying too much about which country is being discussed.

Who is lying? Only a child or someone being willingly deceptive would deny governments are run by power mad crooks.
Google "government corruption" and get back to us in a few thousand years when you are done reading.

Calling government officials doing their jobs "criminals" is lying.

Even if you refuse to admit it.

Even if you engage in all manner of childish nonsense to try to rationalize the lying.

Nature calls, man.

Nature calls.

How can you defeat nature?

"Volunteers who cheated during a series of problem-solving tasks were consistently found to feel better about themselves than those who played fairly.

Researchers from the universities of Washington and Pennsylvania and the London and Harvard business schools said: "We propose that although many individuals believe that engaging in unethical behaviour will result in increased negative affect, acting dishonestly predictably triggers positive feelings."

“Overall, we find that dishonest individuals -- as measured by the dice task -- prefer to enter government service,” wrote Hanna and coauthor Shing-yi Wang, an assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.
They added, “Importantly, we show that cheating on this task is also predictive of fraudulent behaviors by real government officials.”

Because this is why they pay taxes. Why is that concept so strange for you? Canadian doctors determine that oval tine and other vitamin enriched food products are detrimental to people's health and they got banned. Still don't understand?
