Redistribution encourages and rewards sloth and dependence. Neither are beneficial to society.

Yes, because doing so provides jobs to shipbuilders, etc., who would otherwise be unemployed. See how that works?

Strawman. Redistribution of resources was my exact statement. How is the global 99% not having enough food and water beneficial to society? This wasn't even a USA specific issue.

Another strawman.

Nothing I said was about the economy. It was strictly about the physical needs of human beings. Food, water, shelter, and clothing together cost $X. If one man makes $500X and the rest of society makes $(X-10), society collapses because the demand of basic sustainability is not being met due to hoarding by one man. That is why redistribution is necessary.

I take it you don't believe in evolution, survival of the fittest?

And those costs can be reduced by living with roommates and living within one's means instead of expecting to be handed the proceeds of slave labor from others.

Socialism refers to state ownership and administration of the means of production. Nothing more, nothing less.

Evolution is not debatable in my mind. I consider it as close to factual as can be.

Survival of the fittest sure; tragedy of the commons no. Capitalism will lead to tragedy of the commons if not regulated.

Actually.... no.

That would be communism.

Not the same thing.

"Socialism" is sometimes used interchangeably with "communism" but the two philosophies have some stark differences. Most notably, while communism is a political system, socialism is primarily an economic system that can exist in various forms under a wide range of political systems.
