Swiss Foreign Ministry Meets With Hawaiian Envoy in Bern
Posted on March 29, 2014
Due to the war crimes that continue to be committed with impunity by the State of Hawai‘i, an illegal regime, against innocent civilians, the acting government of the Hawaiian Kingdom has temporarily refrained from pursuing its proceedings at the International Court of Justice and has decided to focus its attention to secure a Protecting Power pursuant to the Fourth Geneva Convention (GCIV) and the Additional Protocol I (API). A Protecting Power is a State that ensures compliance of the Hawaiian Kingdom and the United States to the provisions of the GCIV and API, with particular focus on the protection of civilians.

As a State Party to the GCIV and AP, article 5(1) of the API, states, “It is the duty of the Parties to a conflict from the beginning of that conflict to secure the supervision and implementation of the Conventions and of this Protocol by the application of the system of Protecting Powers, including inter alia the designation and acceptance of those Powers, in accordance with the following paragraphs.” And according to article 5(3) of the API, if a Protecting Power has not been designated, “the International Committee of the Red Cross…shall offer its good offices to the Parties to the conflict with a view to the designation without delay of a Protecting Power to which the Parties to the conflict consent.”

On December 18, 2013, at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was formally requested to assist the Hawaiian Kingdom in securing a Protecting Power in accordance with the GCIV and API. In this pursuit, the acting government has been in the process of securing a meeting with the Swiss government in order to formally request that it be a Protecting Power and to work with the ICRC. The Swiss government has a long history of serving as a mediator to international conflicts and did serve as a protecting power in the past. A meeting was secured on March 26, 2014, and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs’ Directorate of International Law in Bern, Switzerland, received the acting government’s Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary. Negotiations to secure Switzerland as a Protecting Power for the illegal and prolonged occupation of the Hawaiian Kingdom have begun.

Give it up Dude. The Kingdom of Hawaii is dead, has long been dead, and will always be dead.

You are free to join the rest of us in the 21st century whenever you are ready.

Or, ya know, don't. If it gives you purpose to pretend you're oppressed and fighting for something "bigger than yourself," then have at it, I suppose. Just don't get violent or drag innocent people into your nonsense.

We are seeing here another member of this forum who wishes to break up the USA. There are many who dream of breaking into regional countries, northwest, southwest, southeast and even land locked areas.

The strength of the USA is the binding of 50 states, with a federal constitution. Freedom is the main issue, so what is the issue behind someone looking to provoke a discussion on breaking out of this union of 50 states.

To me it comes down to economics, where a small number of people believe they can gain (power) by breaking up a great system.
In the framework of the opening of this tread Russia (Putin) needed to flex nationalist muscle and used military power to annex a section of another country. As shown by the OP the USA added the State of Hawaii, questionable methods were used (economic), but we as a nation have grown and prospered, no longer looking to expand by annexation. The state of Hawaii benefits by being in the USA.

So you think the Swiss are going to burn their economic and political relationship with the U.S. to help the "Hawaiian Kingdom" negotiate some kind of peace treaty with the U.S.?

That seems unlikely.

You're a US citizen. You have the SAME rights as any other American. You CAN'T use "Jim Crow" to excuse NOT doing well in life. If a "Black" dude can be POTUS; there's NOT a damn thing holding back some person who ain't anglo white from doing well.

Good luck with that. But don't you think your efforts would better be spent on something productive? Or is it easier to be an internet activist?

You and about 3 dozen other separatist types claim to have a monopoly on "education"... stand in line.

But-for their internal sectarian violence and power struggles, both places would be far freer and prosperous places today, because the US has no and had no designs on annexing either place.

We would have liked to have been gone entirely from both places years ago.

"Native" Americans and Hawaiians need to address the real grievances they have, but get off the high horse and understand that what the "Americans" did is nothing different than what any other cultures (including their own) have done to other cultures since the beginning of time. Any student of OBJECTIVE history would know this.

The advantage native cultures have? No real written records to account for the voices which may have been lost over thousands of years through oppression by other native cultures.

Honestly, its only recent that we don't think such empire building and land grabbing is appropriate. Very recent. Which is why when Putin is doing it in 2014, it's VASTLY a different circumstance than when the US empire built in the 1800s. Nobody does that anymore. Very out of fashion since.... oh.... the 1930s.

Very.

And so are you. The only reason you even *get* to have a free and open opposition against the US government is because you happened to get annexed at the tail end of empirism, at the hands of a culture that tolerates such open opposition and criticism.

Good luck with that if Putin was in charge.
