did you know that in many cases, it has been shown that dog bites do NOT go down in municipalities with BSL.... it is discriminatory and unsuccessful.......

Yes, BSL doesn't always work - like gun control. Was just pointing out to poster that sometimes you're not free to have any dog you please.

And certainly, if I lived in a city where there were restrictions or bans on certain breeds, I would follow that law. But it would be because it was a law, not some paranoid nut's shrieking about what kind of dog THEY think I should have.

Look, I get that this is evidently a "we hate pitbulls" thread, but the bottom line is that all dogs bite, and many of them do it when they're provoked by kids who do what kids do--bend down and get into their faces, slap the dogs, etc., or adults who somehow make them feel threatened. The difference is that, when it's a chihuahua that's doing the biting istead of an 80-lb large, stocky, muscular breed, there won't generally be much of an injury.
All dogs should be supervised, and so should kids. And adults/kids shouldn't be approaching dogs who are unknown to them.
i do not hate pitbulls. i recognize the breed as dangerous and not for civilized society, and absolutely not for densely packed cities. maybe in rural areas where you have to defend against bears or whatever but not common society where people walk down the block or by a home on a sidewalk and the pitbull jumps to tear the flesh off my face "because he felt like it."
and even if you are in a rural area, the wolf in sheep's clothing going by the "man's best friend" title can still do this in your living room as you snuggle up...
you can see the bite-hold-shake attack here. clearly the owner is "proud" to allow his pitbull to maul the cat to death, watch him enjoy the show at 1:18 only to cautiously to try and stop his pride and joy because someone else catches him just relaxin'

all five of my dogs would and have done that exact same thing to critters out in the woods.... and guess what?? not a single one of them is a pit bull......
my Australian Cattle Dog LOVES baby bunnies.... as snacks.... not something I am proud of or happy about and I do manage to direct her off of them most of the time, but sometimes there is just no stopping her.... it is what it is.....
dogs are predators.... some have higher prey drives than others and that must be managed.....
The men in the video with the cat was wrong.....they should have NEVER put their hands and faces near the dog and cat...NEVER.
Our hounds would have killed that cat in a hurry.
In fact some dog trainers use cats or, coons in roll cages so they can get the dog back safely.
I didn't watch the video because I knew it would be awful.....
but as I said earlier.... you just can't fix stupid..... or prevent it from broadcasting itself on the internet.....
