Mary Barra, the CEO of General Motors is testifying in front of congress over the failures of ignition switches in some of their vehicles. To be more accurate, she is actually ANSWEWRING questions. What's up with that? I though she might go all Eric Holder, Kathy Sebilius (sp) or Lois Lerner and just clam up and refuse to answer questions. You know, get all b*tchy and plead the 5th.
I have to wonder...why is a corporate CEO held to a MUCH higher standard than members of the Obama administration? Why does she seem so much more competant and intelligent? Why does GM offer more "transparency" than the US government?
Something like the Volt (of which I am no fan) is so much more complicated and difficult to develop than a simple web site...and the O admin can't even get that right. Where is the accountability?
On a related note...why isn't Obama's NHSTA administrator and the mass of government employees responsible for investigating vehicle safety issues in front of congress? Why was their failure to detect and correct the problem get ignored?

Politicians are giving the perception that they care. (They don't.)
She wasn't even there when all of this actually happened. Those that were got their golden parachutes from the taxpayers and are sitting on the beach somewhere not answering anything.

Agreed. I went to college with her. Didn't really know her but knew who she was. Right about now being a peon working paycheck to paycheck is looking pretty good. She's earning her money today.
You're right about the government flunkys put in charge of Government Motors...didn't one of them market toothpaste before being put in charge of the most demanding manufacturing environment in the world?

Bottom line.....nobody that has been responsible for costing taxpayers billions and billions of dollars have been held responsible for anything. On the contrary, they all have been richly rewarded.

Very true. Remember when the auto execs went before congress in '07-08 asking for bailouts. Well...wrong as that was, and as stupid as the way the government handled the GM bankruptcy, what I remember was the attacks on the execs for flying to DC on company airplanes. Now...what about all the senators and congressmen that fly around on Air Force VIP planes? They have done a far worse job managing this country than any auto exec ever did their company. For that matter, what about the president on Air Force One? IF we're going to attack incompetent executives for wasting money flying around on "corporate" jets, he would be at the top of the list. No GM exec ever managed this country as badly or turned in such a lousy performance as Obama...or Bush for that matter. Maybe they should be able to print their own money too.
Oh...can you imagine the outrage if Mary Barra had told the relatives of the those killed in wrecks over this...What difference does it make anyway? The arrogance and insensitivity of such a remark would have her nailed to a wall...as it should. Yet when an bumbling government "manager" makes such a statement about her employees being killed under her watch...it's somehow accepted.
It's a shame we accept such incompetence and arrogance from our government employees...and that we don't demand similar accountability. Government workers get a pass on stupid.
Because she's not a government employee. Which these days -- particularly in cases when you are a high ranking one in the Obama administration -- apparently means you aren't held to any standards like the rest of us peasants.

She has been working for GM since she was 18 years old. YES she was there.
