There is no amendment to the US Constitution that keeps GOD out of governments business.

It is freedom of religion. Not freedom from religion.
Actually, it is both. You cannot have freedom of religion without freedom from religion. Religion has no place in government, just as government has no place in religion.

Why do both the Senate and House have an Office of Chaplain and open with a prayer every day ? This is part of the House prayer from last Thursday ---

"God of the universe, we give You thanks for giving us another day.

For all the riches of our human experience, O Lord, we give You thanks. Make us aware of our responsibilities as stewards of Your divine gifts, and empower us with Your grace to faithfully and earnestly use our talents in ways that bring understanding to our communities and our Nation, and peace to every soul.

May all we do be done for Your greater honor and glory.

Amen."

We can go back through U.S. history to show the connections, but can you first explain the House and Senate prayers.

IRS agents’ testimony: NO progressive groups were targeted by IRS

This should be apparent. They won't target their handlers.

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."
- Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton.
- (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002

- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Those poor, poor democrats. Too stupid to figure out for themselves that not only were they WRONG when they were in power, they were STILL WRONG in 2003! After they didn't vote for the war that they voted for!

So tell me, who did you vote for in the last 2 elections?

I'd bet it was for Obama and BIDEN. Biden, you know, the Senator who voted FOR the actions in Iraq.
Where is your reading comprehension? Everybody based their opinions on phony and/or incorrect intelligence. The weapons inspectors should have had the last word, but Darth Cheney would have none of it. He wanted his little war, and nothing would stand in the way. Cheney/Bush were in power at the onset of the war, and they trumped up further intelligence to support their little invasion.
The dems, despite their previous opinions, are not responsible for the republicon war-for-profit or the phony intelligence. Take a breather on the fainting couch and gather yourself.

A Congressional Chaplin does not establish a national religion any more than a speech from a President or a Valedictorian that happens to mention a religious deity establishes a national religion.

It requires a law to be enacted in order to establish a national religion, and since that is specifically prohibited by the First Amendment of the US Constitution, you are not likely to see such a law introduced anytime soon.

People have the right to believe, or not believe, in any religion they choose. That is only possible when there is freedom from religion. If there was only freedom of religion, and not freedom from religion, then everyone can be forced into a particular religion, whether they agree with that religion or not. So in order to have true freedom to believe whatever you desire, there must be freedom of religion and freedom from religion.

You know who needs more than interrogations? Since their agenda is to supplant democracy for oligarchy, these phony right-wing front groups need to be targeted and have their tax-exempt status rescinded. This includes the churches and certain programming on TCT which preach against Obama and democrats. They also need to be investigated for fascist un-American activities like Joe McCarthy did against "commies" but without the phony innuendo. There are no "leftist" organizations that compare, in fact, it is "leftist" ones who were denied.
The neanderthal conservative wing has zero constructive ideas for mainstream America, so destroying the opposition is all they have the "talent" for. Congressional obstruction and legislative sabotage is all they have been capable of over five plus years. These people are against everything and for nothing. What a pathetic bunch.
Once again, the desperate right-wing crybabies, who also happen to be obstructionist phonies and crooks, are throwing their little tantrums. I think somebody needs a nap.

Until 1846 the US also charged, tried, and convicted people for blasphemy. Are you going to try to bring that back as well?

Even the founding fathers violated the very documents they wrote. The Alien & Sedition Act of 1796 blatantly violated the then five year old First Amendment. Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase also violated the US Constitution. Nowhere does the US Constitution authorize the Executive Branch to spend public funds to expand the boundaries of the nation.
