These green energy projects, like solar and wind are destroying birds, including endangered raprtors. This must be quite the quandary for the greenies in the environmentalist movement.

Birds are curious creatures, and I'm sure that shiny solar array mirrors look interesting enough from the air, for the bird to do an innocent flyby, only to be cooked to death.

World's largest solar farm is SCORCHING BIRDS that fly over it | Mail Online

One reason: the BrightSource system appears to be scorching birds that fly through the intense heat surrounding the towers, which can reach 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

The company, which is based in Oakland, Calif., reported finding dozens of dead birds at the Ivanpah plant over the past several months, while workers were testing the plant before it started operating in December. Some of the dead birds appeared to have singed or burned feathers, according to federal biologists and documents filed with the state Energy Commission.

According to compliance documents released by developer BrightSource Energy last year, dozens of birds were found injured at the site during the building stage.

Windmills are no better How Many Birds Do Wind Turbines Really Kill? | Smithsonian

In the end, using 58 mortality estimates that met their criteria, they came up with an estimate. According to the current literature somewhere between 140,000 and 328,000 birds die each year from collisions with wind turbines. That's not all, explains the blog Natural Reactions:

In addition, it appears that there is a greater risk of fatal collisions with taller turbines. This is a real problem, as larger wind turbines may provide more efficient energy generation. Consequently, it is expected that new wind farms will contain even bigger turbines, which will result in even more bird deaths. Future developments therefore will have to give very careful consideration to potential wildlife impacts when planning the type of turbine to install.

How many birds are just eaten by coyotes and are never counted, or are severely injured and able to fly off a ways and then die?

Cats kill 3.7 billion birds in the US annually, the turbines are at about 328,000. Every time cats kill a million birds there goes a windmill nailing down a single bird...wow.

Cats kill up to 3.7B birds annually

Actually, it's a big issue within the environmental movement. Bats are also a concern.

The top human-built environmental threat to birds are;

Buildings - As many as 970 million birds crash into them annually.
Power Lines - 175 million die by flying into power lines.
Pesticides - 72 million birds poisoned annually.
Communications towers - Kill 6.6 million.
Fluid waste pits of the oil & gas industry - Kill 1 million birds annually.

The alternative to wind and solar is oil, nuclear, coal...The genocidal axis powers to the ave community.

Cats are not killing endangered eagles, hawks, and owls.

In other words, to hell with the birds, and whats wrong with adding a few hundred thousand large, endangered birds, to the sparrows and pigeons that cats already kill?

Another one?

So your point is, let's add to the deaths of pigeons and blackbirds, by adding the deaths of large, endangered raptors. Are golden eagles flying into LA and committing suicide on skyscrapers, or are they being killing by windmills and solar arrays that are built in the last remaining habitat for these birds?

Interesting how Cliven Bundy is being harassed by our government over a tortoise, that is actually breeding so quickly that the BLM itself is euthanizing, but wind farms and solar arrays are given a pass for killing endangered raptors because of the AGW scam.

So oil spills, windows of high rise buildings, cats, highways, etc kill animals...just a cost of doing business.

Solar and wing power killing animals...OMG THE HORROR!

Sure.

What is your opinion on alternate energy sources, OP? I assume you are against them since you are pointing out they kill birds.

The thing is, as was pointed out before, many things kill birds, not only to a higher degree but also are worse for the environment in other ways. So while some environmentalists are torn on the bird issue, most realize that utilizing alternate, renewable energy is safer for the environment -- birds included.

So it would appear you are even further to the left than I am, which is admirable but I still feel the US should invest more into converting to these clean, renewable sources of energy to reduce our foreign energy dependence.
