This is a great idea, are they going to also have a class on the Quran and are the atheists going to jump into the fray. No problem here right, I feel sorry for the PTA they really have their work cut out for them

MUSTANG, Okla. —Mustang schools approved a History of the Bible course on Monday and plan to start offering it in the fall. Despite the popularity among students, at least one organization expressed displeasure with the decision.
Almost 200 students signed up for the elective course. Some parents had no issues with teaching it as an elective.
"We're in the Bible Belt. That's where we live," Mustang High School parent Amber Grizzle said.
Grizzle doesn't think there's a problem with having a Bible class as an elective at her child's school.
"If they give the option, then why not learn about our savior?" added Grizzle.
But the Oklahoma PTA said the course doesn't belong in public schools.
I have a problem with it. I am christian and just because someone can teach something doesn't mean that they can teach it right. And just in what context are they going to teach it?
They should not be teaching the bible in public schools.
Steve Green can do whatever he wants, the problem is with the Board of Ed allowing him or anyone else for that matter to develop a course on the bible.

Look, Oklahomans pretty strongly feel, if there is one thing the government can and should do right, then it is to promote Christianity. However, putting up the Ten Commandments monument on state capitol grounds with a word or two misspelled on it doesn't count.
It's an elective? Who cares. Since our schools suck so bad, does it matter what they teach that the kids will never remember? If they offered a course on the Koran I would be interested in that. Actually a religion course teaching about all of them would be interesting. But, then again I'm not afraid of learning about ideas...even bad ones.

Even though Oklahoma is a big time Bible Belt state, a few parents don't make their children go to church every Sunday morning. It's felt using the public schools is a good way to get those few children exposed to the Bible. Parents who object can surely opt their children from the course. Hopefully, those children don't get bullied as a result.
