The "Devil" is always in the details. And it always takes time to ferret-out facts, think about them, and to form an intelligently thought-out opinion. This entire "scandal" went from start to finish in a matter of a few days and people making judgments on the matter lack sufficient credible facts and background. If the man should be condemed, should have his business forceably taken from him, should be further chastised for expressing opinions in private and not intended for repeating/broadcast ... there will or would have been a time to do that. That this was done as the result of a modern-day lynch mob applying a standard not uniformly applied in our culture is what I think ought to trouble us all.

Not sure why people keep blaming the media for this... lol.

Here is where the hypocrisy stems. The people around him, and his players knew for a long time how he rolled, and yet they had no problem with it. Why? Could it be because they were getting PAID??? And big money at that.

People don't seem to understand that you can disagree with his statements, but still not agree with essentially seizing his private property because of his beliefs.

He agreed to the terms when he bought a team, the owners of the NBA have the ability to kick anyone out of their league.

Consider these opinions:

Quote:
Although Sterling’s comments are not protected by the First Amendment because
there was no “government action†implicated, constitutional scholars such as
Michael Meyers (head of the New York Civil Rights Coalition) questioned the
wisdom of the commissioner punishing Sterling for private speech, because “the
NBA would now also have to investigate and punish other owners and possibly
players, too, for their private or public expression of odious, bigoted
attitudes.â€
Quote:
Attorneys for the commissioner will likely argue that the NBA has a certain
standard that must be maintained and that it is in the best interests of the
league to rid itself of a crazy 80-year-old racist.

However, I think it is fair to assume that Sterling didn’t just become a
crazy, old racist today. It seems as if there is plenty of evidence to suggest
he was a crazy 70-year-old racist, and perhaps a crazy 60-year-old racist, and
on down the line. Apparently many people in and around the NBA were well-aware
of Mr. Sterling’s personal beliefs. Sterling’s counsel can argue that the NBA
took no action against him for years, and consequently, the lifetime ban is
being imposed because of personal animus of the new commissioner.

This! Everyone is at risk. If you own property, or own a business you'd better watch what you say in the privacy of your own home, or what cause you donate to with your own money, because you could lose your livelihood due to the thought police. Where does it end?

This is a bit of a drama statement, there are plenty of racist and bigoted owners out there that aren't forced to sell their business. Sterling owns a team in a league that has rules that the owners in that league could kick out any owner with a 75% vote.

Don't care...........well folks did when they were braying about it........why so many are influenced by the nuts who run the media I will never get........and will always laugh at.

Why I'm laughing now. The "mob" thinks they will punish this evil rich guy by making him sell his team for hundreds of millions of dollars. That is just funny. But you get your win even though you hand the evil rich guy a pile of money. lol
