The only thing I can say mildly in his favor is he did not so much dislike blacks, according to his comments, as dislike his girlfriend being with blacks due to the "culture". Of course he also said he did not wish to change the culture.

I give him a 7.5 on the 1-10 racist scale.

Since African-American is supposed to designate black people in America who are the descendants of slaves, does that mean that Mr. Sterling (a Democrat) wouldn't have a problem with a Nigerian-American or a Jamaican?

Until around the 1990's, the NBA was geared towards the serious basketball fan.

I expect that the new commish Silver will have to move quickly to push Donald Sterling out of the league. The irony is that Sterling will make over a half billion dollars on the sale. Silver has a mess on his hands but I bet that secretly he's smiling at all the pub the NBA is getting at sites like TMZ and Gawker, if he believes in and supports the Stern model, which he presumably does, as Stern's protégé.

He's not going to be "pushed" anywhere. He may decide to sell for a substantial premium.
