Looks like Orwell's draconian predictions of viewscreens watching what you do, thoughtcrime, and the "Thought Police", weren't inaccurate after all. They were just predicted for 30 years too soon.

Today's Democrats seem to spend half their time insisting that they are the party of the little guy, looking out for "ordinary people's rights and well-being"....

....and the other half of their time, submitting bills like this one.

There is no truth to the rumor that this bill is in any way related to the huge information-gathering and storage facility recently built in Utah (Utah Data Center - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), nor that it intended to take adavantage of its capability in any way. They are strictly separate issues. Yes, they are.

And as always, the bill doesn't define exactly what "hate crimes" and "hate speech" are. The politicians get to make that up as they go along.

Meaning, we'll have to pass the bill to find out what's in it.

Big chill: Feds want to scour Net, media for ‘hate speech’

Big chill: Feds want to scour Net, media for 'hate speech'

by Aaron Klein
29 April 2014

This according to the text of a new bill from Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.:

The Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014 “would create an updated comprehensive report examining the role of the Internet and other telecommunications in encouraging hate crimes based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation and create recommendations to address such crimes,” stated a news release from Markey’s office.

The one-page bill, reviewed by WND, calls for the Justice Department and the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights to “analyze information on the use of telecommunications, including the Internet, broadcast television and radio, cable television, public access television, commercial mobile services, and other electronic media, to advocate and encourage violent acts and the commission of crimes of hate.”

The bill does not define which actions by broadcasters would be considered to have encouraged violence, seemingly leaving that open to interpretation.

This is why America needs Republicans to hold at least one-half of the legislative branch. To prevent liberals from perpetuating their idiocy and overall hatred for the Constitution of the United States of America.

Except that whole "Republicans fighting net neutrality" thing.

Voting republicans in won't fix the wound. It'll only cause a gunshot in a different vital organ.

I agree that gridlock is good but the (R)'s gave us McCain/Feingold which was basically the same thing.

Politicians wanted to stop others from saying negative things about them. This would meet the same fate.

The best thing to do is name it something about children, and put a small thing in there that sounds like people would like it.
" protect the children act". People are so stupid that they will say, " who would be opposed to that" even of it has nothing in there for kids. We are a strange species. Eventually we will all be monitored for our own good we are told.

So, OP, are you saying that, by the end of Obama's presidency, we'll be like North Korea?
