...it is wicked.

This well written and well thought article says it all. It'll shut up not one alarmist because Global Warming Alarmism is a religion.

A Wicked Orthodoxy | National Review Online

This piece originally appeared in the U.K. publication Standpoint.

There is something odd about the global-warming debate — or the climate-change debate, as we are now expected to call it, since global warming has for the time being come to a halt.
I have never shied away from controversy, nor — for example, as chancellor of the exchequer — worried about being unpopular if I believed that what I was saying and doing was in the public interest.
But I have never in my life experienced the extremes of personal hostility, vituperation, and vilification that I — along with other dissenters, of course — have received for my views on global warming and global-warming policies.

Show me some science, not just another denier's opinion.

Wow. You read that fast.

This is written by a highly placed and well respected public officer. And the article is VERY well backed up by science. Try reading it instead of clapping your hands over your ears and humming.

Conservatives don't believe in global warming and the National Review is conservative. So....nothing else to say

Sanspeur didn't bother reading the article. You didn't even bother reading my post!

The article first appeared in Standpoint, a UK publication. Nigel Lawson is a former Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Apocalyptic cults aren't generally known for sane, reasonable behavior.

I did read both articles. I think we believe what we want to believe and find articles to support our case. This goes for both sides. I believe in climate change and that man contributes to it. I don't need articles to support my belief.

If not from articles, then from whence do you derive your "belief" (your word, not mine.)

By the way, you didn't read "both" articles. For one thing, it was only one article, not two. Second, the article is at least a fifteen minute read.

It absolutely IS treated as a religion. Your article was attacked and denounced almost immediately because it goes against the dogma. Anything that does is dismissed with extreme prejudice and the person posting it is either accused of being a dumb, anti-science, idiot or a paid stooge for big oil. There is apparently no room in this debate for those who are legitimately SKEPTICAL. I include myself in that group and I happen to think that there are more of us than the orthodoxy would like to admit and that probably scares them!
Read some of the many other threads about climate change and you will quickly see what I mean.
