So do you think that means government workers are a communism?

You Americans are afflicted with a bad case of Communistitis. It's a mental disease where the person thinks there are actually one or two real communists out of the three hundred and thirty million Americans. In places where there are actually a fair number of communists like certain countries in Europe they cause dar less problems than the USA's obsessive FEAR of something that does not exist.

There is a long list of valid reasons against communism. But no matter how long that list is, the original argument of this thread is not on it. That argument, the argument that government payrolls have to come from taxes from private enterprise, because otherwise we would just be paying ourselves, and there would be no point in having payrolls or taxes at all, that argument is almost pure nonsense, based on a logical fallacy.

It would be better to discuss what the world would be like if everyone worked for the government, and leave communism out of it. That would make it a slightly less emotional argument in which we might gain real insight, and not just flame wars.

No, and if you do, you have no idea what Communism is.

The thread is about what a Dem. Congressman said, "We proved that Communism works". It does NOT work and that's what people are trying to say.

Well, you're halfway there already in Canada so it wouldn't matter much to you. We don't want anything to do with it here. It is an oppressive ideology that the Left is infested with in this country.

No I don't, I am fine with government workers, I am also aware that border patrols aren't communist. So basically Garcia is confused with what communist means if he thinks government workers is communism.

"Half way there" LOL what a joke. You just reinforced what I said about the American mental disease regarding Communism. If Canada is .0000000000001% communist I'm a monkey's uncle.

We are a democracy period. Our economic system is "Free enterprise" and my personal freedoms exceed those of an American citizen so much it's not even measurable.

Yes, we're terribly oppressed up here. Every day is a veritable nightmare, comrade.

Communism is like a football team everyone who plays wears the same uniform and takes the same hits, everyone has to contribute and do his assignment. (From each according to his ability). Who is to say a lineman is any less important than a star QB if he buys enough time for that QB to throw a completion or make a sucessful hand off to his running back? When the team wins all share in the emotional high that comes from a sucessful game and the recognition that comes from being a champion(To each according to his need). Now in every sucessful team someone calls the plays and helps get everyone on the same page. Their are those who provide the knowledge of the finer parts of the game, set the game plan or help a player who needs help physical or otherwise. Karl Marx introduced something called the theory of infinite accumulation which says communism will only work when their is no scarcity (and scarcity is what Capitalism is based on because things only have value when they are scarce!!) . For example when a factory is operated and mantained by only a few hundered specialist expert workers but produces goods sufficent to satisfy the needs of millions of people. There would be no scarcity, no poverty, no want and no starvation.

So why shouldn't everyone be equal?
