Nice to see how soccer is growing popularity in this country.

Christ, by that reaction you'd think the US had actually won the bloody World Cup not just scored a goal on Ghana in the first round.

It's kind of like the Olympics, everyone looks at track in gymnastics doe a few weeks and that's it, doesn't hurt if you win. After this is over no one will care, does anyone watch the US soccer league?

Anyway a great game and good win for the US.

Exactly.
Soccer will never get the consistant TV ratings in the country.

The game is a big bore. Worse than baseball.

How is football any better than soccer? Football is a sport that is in constant stop-motion. If the closet homosexuals not slapping each other on the ass between plays, then they're standing around huddled together. At least in soccer the ball is in motion more than half of the game.

Soccer isnt growing. this happens everythime there is a World Cup. There is a momentary spike in popularity that lasts for a couple month..manifested via increased soccer participation in younger leagues. Interest than wavers. I've seen it the last two World cups. In my humble opinion the only way soccer gains traction in this nation is if football fails. In schools, football and soccer both occur in the fall sports season. Kids would have to stop playing football, and substitute with soccer. Additionally, the big three sports in this country allow for alot of many stops in action (ie massive commercial TV revenue). The TV dollars just arent there for soccer! Americans dont like flopping in their sports. It is a big turn off and isnt tolerated in any of our sports. The NBA crushed flopping from becoming an epidemic.

Nope. I'm not seeing it either. Sure my brother-in-law, niece and nephew love it, as they all played it, but they're in the minority. As for myself and my household we're a football family first and foremost. Baseball comes in second, as we do follow the Cleveland Indians. And as for the NBA, or basketball for that matter, anymore I'd rather watch the grass grow.

I's according to where you live. In Miami it's as popular as football.
