House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers' jobs.

I'm not giving anyone a pass, one dad is taking care of 2 of the kids and seeking a custody arrangement, but he has no obligation to pay for the other 10. As it stands though, the lady and her kids were making ends meet and weren't on welfare until her fiance was arrested.

Ironically enough, this lady is a striking example of why abortion is necessary, but due to her religious convictions she thinks abortion is murder. This must be quite the conundrum. You can either demonize her for accepting public aid or praise her for buying the anti abortion BS, but you can't do both.

So why do we owe her.
We don't.

Had I not had to actually leave at that exact moment to get to work on time, there may have been one less person on welfare by the end of the day.

I totally understand the frustration of supporting people who should have made better choices. However, in the scheme of things, $200-$300 (whatever the amount currently is) a month for welfare is small potatoes when you realize how much worse the other side of "welfare" is, i.e., corporate welfare. So, some more questions for ya:
A girl who lived with her mother (on welfare) lived next door to mil. During a snowstorm mil kids were battling the dangerous snow and ice covered roads to get home from work. MIL was very worried about her kids.

Welfare girl came over to mil house and said "now what fool would be out there in that mess"? to which mil answer, "those fools out there working to support your fat ass, now get out".

I agree with the corporate welfare issue too.

That's bs... if she had religion (morals) she would know that her lifestyle does not meet the standards. It appears that it is her upbringing which she is passing on to her kids.

I don't agree with that either. And by the way, Nancy Pelosi is a really bad leader, very unintelligent.

Nor do I agree with it. It is Pelosi's argument to keep her pay. She is a bad leader but the poor attack the rich as evil yet support this multimillionaire.

The comments were made in the context of the looming sequester, which would force across-the-board cuts affecting most federal offices, including Congress. To her it is ok that our military take cuts but not her.

It seems like she is following religion pretty closely.

Liberalism?

Because it sure isn't Christianity.

You have nothing constructive to offer to the discussion so you come up with this? Pathetic.
