Why is the audience of sporting events a target of these liberal media conglomerates?

Bob Costas is an insufferable twink.
But the reality is they are free to do or say whatever they want to on the air. I try to turn the volume down on most announcers. The only team I like is Al Michaels/Cris Collinsworth, because they seem to stay pretty neutral on virtually all topics.
It's interesting---I grew up listening to Jack Brickhouse, Lou Boudreau, and Vince Lloyd broadcasting Cub games, and Jim Durham broadcasting Bulls games. I listened hour upon hour, but have no clue as to what their political leanings were. It never came up.
Today sports talk always includes a heavy dose of politics. There is an inextricable connection between sports and politics. I don't have much interest in pro sports anymore, but sometimes I will flip to sports outlets just to hear their angle on political angles.
Why does media interject politic into sports broadccasting?
In my opinion, its because the talking heads in big media are paid so much, and have so much celebrity, that they really believe they have all the answers to society's ills.
