Consider the source, I.e., the NYT.

The person, in their opt-editorial which this is, even admits that there are refugees coming in. Yet they say there is no crisis? That this has been happening all along. That the refugees get taken in then moved to other states!! That doesn't make it any less a crisis. What this is doing, and the writer, is telling people from Central and South America "Hey come to our country illegally. It's no big deal. Someone will feel sorry for you and take you in. And then eventually the taxpayers will have to foot the bill. And in the article the writer mixes up legal immigration with illegal immigration when they write "This effort to take away rights that were granted when there was significantly less anti-immigrant fervor isn’t just shortsighted and expensive, it’s un-American". Perhaps they would like to pay for the care and feeding of all of these potentially socialist, Democratic voting illegal immigrants.

It is a myth that we as a nation don't welcome refugee's. Our wealth and lust for drugs has created chaos in these countries where these children come from and some say it's not our problem?

We welcome refugees, but we are a nation of LAWS, it is illegal to enter the country without permission. We have a right to know who is in this country, if they are criminals, if they can support themselves, if they have skills. When they sneak across the border, they are breaking the law and should be delt with.
If you don't think the border issue is a problem, come see what they have done to the neighborhood I grew up in.

My family came to this country around 1900, but they came here legally, they entered thru Ellis Island, they had to have a job or someone to take care of them, they were screened to make sure they had no diseases, there were records to show where they lived, and where they could be found.

I actually agree with you on illegal immigration (I support Jan Brewer), and my history goes through Ellis Island, and my grandfather came around the horn and into Seattle. It is my understanding that the thread topic is about children crossing over and turning themselves in to authorities. Therefore, they're attempting to be legal and productive members of our society.

You don't even have to get far into the story to realize that, yet again, the NYT is setting forth its own story rather than reporting the truth. That's the issue, not the fact that it's from the NYT.

First of all, "To hear the national news tell it, the country's being overrun with children..." Huh? In fact, I haven't heard the national news say that at all. The old media has been complicit covering up the bearded "children" and appears content with not being able to access these holding areas. The prez needs over $4 billion to address something that's not a crisis? Hmmm..... And they're not refugees, either, though that's the latest attempt by the left and the administration to make this invasion more palatable.

It's not working. Thank gawd for the internet.

It cannot be a crisis if they knew about it, projected numbers for it and even budgeted for it last year.
The numbers have been surging since 2009.
And that's both Border Patrol reports and HHS reports.

The "crisis" started in June when they decided to detain them rather than release them and didn't have the facilities to hold them in. That's the "crisis"..not enough beds because now they are holding them for 15 days.

Funny, how come "our lust for drugs" doesn't create this problem in Canada?

COULD IT BE that Canada is not a corrupt hell hole?

And EXACTLY HOW does OUR wealth create this problem?

How many kids are YOU adopting?
