However, the common thread between the two is their ultimate goal of a world-wide Ummah, and the insertion of a Caliph as leader over all. Hamas was just created from the Muslim brotherhood, in part, to be the "leg" that is trying to eradicate Israel.

You can split hairs about their origins, activities, countries, etc. - but at the very bottom line, their mottos and goals are quite similar...destroy Western civilization, convert or kill infidels, and establish a Caliphate.

How they go about it with regard to the level of violence can be argued ad nauseam.

That really is the common goal amongst all of the Islamist 'to force their religion and will on the rest of the world.'
