When you take away blood lust, murder, genocide and commission of unspeakable atrocities from Islam or Christianity, or Judaism, there is not a whole lot left.
Yeah, and it's clearly in similar proportion. After all, it sometimes rains in the Gobi desert. Therefore it's the same as the Amazon. I'm a smart liberal, so I understand these things.
We were not talking about proportions we were talking about similar values, specifically the two values the person I replied to mentioned. I would add that we, as in Christians have held many if the same values as the Muslims in the past and there are more than a few that would impose them on us all again, Heck there is a thread on this board now that asks why it would it be bad if we became a theocracy. There will always be people that will use religion as a means to control others and further their own agenda, that is true with all religions. An intelligent person understands that the evils associated with most religions are not because of the teachings of the religion but how Men use those teachings. The sad thing is that when you get down to it all three of the major religions that seem to be in constant warfare with each other are all based on the same God, the God of Abraham. That alone should inform the thinking person that it may not be the religion that is the problem but the men that practices it. That said the Vast Majority of Muslims are not at war with Christianity or the West and to make it look otherwise is simply expressing ones own ignorance and hate, which brings us right back to the problem, Men.

I'm no fan whatsoever of Christianity (or Judaism), but to equate it (especially that practiced in the West, which of course is what the left is thinking of as opposed to say, the Maronites or Egyptian Copts) to Islam is just ridiculous. Even if you accept the notion that the values are "similar" at face value, it's irrelevant when the prevalence of those values is so wildly disparate.
Well, what are you doing to stand against extremist Christians?
Seriously, what level is "doing enough" against extremism that will satisfy you?

Nope, it just points out the ignorance of people who think all Muslims somehow control Islamists. Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan are fighting and giving their lives to stop radical Islam from taking their countries. That enough for you? Or will nothing be enough for you.

Oh my are you not informed. There are sects of the Christian religion that believe it is ok to marry (rape) girls as young as 12 and there are many fundamentalist sects that say women must be subservient to the men and consider women less equal than men. You might want to get better informed on religion or stop posting on the topic.
Thank goodness for those Christian sects you can use to equate Islam to Christianity. There are sects, factions, marginal views among every large group.
