I grew up in the mid 1930's and my choice of gun was made of clothespins that shot rubber bands.

Those days the movies were of Gene Autry etc and shooting of the Indians was the prime story.

Thing was while playing with my cousins and friends no one wanted to be the Indian to die.

Must have learned some self defense violence as I'm a vet from WW11 and Korea......still here at 83.

I don't work for the school so I can't answer this question for you, I can only speculate like you are doing.

I was under age (14) while you had to be 16 to enlist in the Canadian Reserve Army.

Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, (RHLI)

I enlisted during 1945 while the war was still on thus am a Vet from WW11.

Have my Discharge and Unit picture on my TV room wall.

During WW11 there was a 14 yr old in the US Navy, Pacific Theatre......things did happen then.

Will add that I also served in the US Army 1950-1952 (Calif National Guard 40th Inf Div) in North Korea.

Also have my US Army Discharge....Ribbons and Medals awarded in a shadow box....along with a Korea map showing my past position area in North Korea on the wall.

My last bunker position has been the DMZ since 1953.

Will answer any further questions asked.
