Wow...now that the numbers are out - we could have invested in upgrading our infrastructure, highways, schools, bolster social security etc...

What a waste!!!
This is just cost of Iraq war per day. But can you imagine cost of keeping all these numerous military bases around the world per day? Per month? Per year? It is insanity!
It would be an astronomic ammount of money that could be spent for a free medical insurance for every american and possibly for free education. I think this cost would easily cover it all.

The chickenhawks are now back on their roosts in congress, crowing for another idiotic middle east war. What's even better, is they'll be mewling and whining when it's time to pay the bill, threatening to "shut down the government" because of uncontrolled spending.

These morons love to pay $trillions for blowing up foreign cities, but hate to spend American taxpayers' money on America; ie infrastructure that is in need of lots of work that would employ thousands.

These morons also like to spend 300+M a day on illegal immigration that could also be used on infrastructure and create twice as many jobs by getting rid of all the illegals. You don't want to whine about that though do you.

And having the military costs 2.2 billon a day without a war. Besides, your number 240 million per day was from 2003 - 2008 during the peak years of the Iraq was when we had massive military presence in Iraq. We have spent 560 million in Iraq since June 15, which comes to 6.2 million a day.

673 BILLION (that we know of ) defense spending for 2013. Unconscionable! If we take general averages of 50,000 median income and 45 years of work in a lifetime. Defense spending in one year was the equivalent of murdering and rolling into a mass grave 300,000 Americans.

I question your figure of $300 million/day.

And here's another question: why do the illegals come here?

And a follow-up: who benefits from their presence here?

If you honestly find the answer, you'll understand why it continues to be such an issue even though the VAST majority of the public wants it ended.

Why wouldn't I? It is just as bad. I don't believe in any "government" spending to be honest with you. I believe in fees for services. We are beyond bankrupt without the ability to ever pay it off, and soon we might not even be able to pay the interest.

On a sinister side, I really secretly cheer all of the nonsense spending in a way....waiting for the government to finally, and mercifully, collapse under its own weight. I am an agorist. The dream of agorism is for counter-economics to kill the State. Massive spending and debt continually piling up for a delusional State is the only way to kill it without ever firing a shot.

So the perpetually growing debt by the State is in effect helping my cause of eliminating it.
