This virus has been around since the 60's.
ERs see it and similar viruses 10-15 million times a year.

It hit the younger kids, especially those with asthma and seasonal allergies, hard within a week or so of the start of school in my school district. There has been no influx of refugee children at schools in my district.

This too shall pass.

Yes, there can be little doubt this disease came in with the illegal children this summer.

The fact is immigrants without health screenings have been coming to the US since it was born. It hasn't somehow changed in the last year. This is a relatively rare and newly identified disease that had a mutation. All kids are getting sick from it so pointing fingers at the immigrants on something that nearly exclusively resides inside US borders is just loony. There currently is no vaccine since it has been identified (addendum: as a serious condition) only 100 times since 1968 (when it was found in the US borders).

All this shows it people's prejudice
Only person whining would be you.I am genuinely concerned for ALL children who are being hit with this because of this admins refusal to enforce very simple laws. My children are in school 1 county away from where 25 or so illegals were allowed to join schools...not only do they bring diseases but it disrupts a class when they don't know a lick of English or ANY of the customs of the US....its unfair to them, its dangerous to US Citizens of ALL races and its illegal.

I am as well. Which is why I want the proper origin of the outbreak to be found so we can see if we can improve the well being and safety of our kids. Not jump, without proof, to it's illegals and anyone who disagrees hates children.

Sounds like you are using this outbreak to just blame illegals since you feel they "don't know a lick of English or ANY of the customs of the US" based on your stereotypes.

Believe none of what you hear, and half of what you see.

Sage advice. If you aren't a viral outbreak expert, and intimately familiar with the disease, your opinion is worth about as much as hearsay is.

Viruses move, they change, and mutate. They are living creatures. Moving from one country to another is very easy. It could just as easily have been someone coming here for vacation at the airport. You don't know.

There are no vaccinations for viruses like the common cold/mutations.

It's a rare child who manages a school year without coming down with something that going around.

The anti- vaccination movement is being driven by parents who do not believe the science and instead, believe vaccinations are the cause of autism. The rate of parents who exempt their children from routine vaccinations due to " personal beliefs" has been growing with each school year. Measles and whooping cough outbreaks are increasingly common, especially in private schools.

How about a non biased source? Hell lets get a Fox news source in here for levity if that suits you.

The illness appears to be most common among very young children and children who have asthma. The CDC tells ABC News that similar suspected outbreaks have been reported in nine other states -- Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia. The Columbus Dispatch reported that Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio's capital reported seeing an average of 73 patients with respiratory complaints per day between August 31 and September 2.

Nothing about illegal immigration in here
