Legal Battle Not Over Between 'American Sniper' Chris Kyle's Wife and Ventura | Fox News Insider

"The attorney for the widow of "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle joined Fox and Friends this morning after asking a judge to throw out a $1.8 million verdict won against the family by Jesse Ventura."

Jesse really needs to do this? WOW anyway.

That is low of Ventura but FOX may not have been the best choice of venues. [MOD CUT/off topic]

If the book is still being sold, still contains libelous claims, and Kyle's widow is getting royalties then it's not over. Ventura is a though for pursuing this after Kyle's death. I assume he's after the life insurance money.

I don't think Ventura is doing anything wrong. The man made money in part by libeling him. And Ventura has lost the opportunity to make money due to the lie & will lode more money because of this lawyer and Fox News not being entirely truthful.

Why does the man's death negate his responsibility to not harm others? And why would military service excuse it?

He explained himself in one of the interviews that he had to do this. Personally I don't agree with what he is doing, but he did get a point.

If Chris Kyle lied about him, then he (Ventura) had every single right to defend himself.

Personally I don't know if Chris Kyle lied or not. But he is an American hero. There is no doubt. I've read his book. I have tremendous respect for Navy SEALs.

I find it hard to believe that this will stand up on appeal. As the OP's link notes, there were witnesses to the fight, and truth is an iron-clad defense to libel.

Still makes Ventura look like a worm for pursuing a widow for money. He should have dropped the whole thing when the man was killed.

I agree. I seen Ventura's interview and his claim is it's not about the money but trying to clear his name and prevent others from libeling him. Lots of celebrities sue one news rag or another for the same reason and generally win.

Well, Jesse did prove in court that Kyle's account of him in his book was almost all BS and totally over exaggerated.

If I was Jesse? I would have forgiven the monetary award after I won the case because he's already rich and it would have helped his image with suing a widow ect.

But that is Jesse's right.

Chris Kyle is just another dead redneck--worm food. More use than he was when he was alive.

Ventura's a bit of an oddball but nobody has the right to lie about anyone, especially for personal gain.
