I would think the message is that it's not okay to hit women and if you do the consequences can (and should) be severe, but I guess the message to some is that if you want to hit women you should do it in places like stairwells where there aren't cameras.

Which message do you think should be taken away from this incident?

Oh yes, try to make it about Fox news in an attempt to divert attention from the actual problems.

Typical.

That certainly seems to be the overriding opinion of the Fox commentators and most of the people posting in this thread.

It's ok, now they are married and she's complaining about people supporting her. She'll end up like Nicole brown Simpson.

Unfortunately you are correct.

The big mistake America made was reclassifying assault of a spouse, partner or family member as a family disturbance and/or domestic violence and reducing the punishment, in a way we said it is not as serious and that it is somehow different. Explain how it is different if I assault my wife or assault the woman down the street? It isn't, the violence inflicts the same level of physical damage and may even leave a larger impact emotionally since it was done by someone you should be able to love and trust. Reclassify so that all assaults are handled in the same many when it comes to charges, stop allowing men, or yes women, that assault others to spend the night in jail then return to their life the next day as if nothing happened. When someone assaults another do the courts say the fitting punishment is to go to anger management classes and a couple of months of probation? Rice should have been arrested and charged with Felony Assault and once convicted, the film alone does that, sentence his arse to years in prison, too bad about his NFL career he was the one that gave that up by his actions.

As for the NFL and the Ravens, NOW they want to do something since they finally, supposedly, just saw the film from inside the elevator? Really? How on earth did they think she ended up being knocked out and dragged out of the elevator? They deserve no respect after how they acted when the issue first came up, a good team would have walked him to the door the second they say the original tape showing the dragging.

Clue to the Clueless:
If you are in a relationship where you feel it is required that you assault your partner or if they feel the same need, You Are In The Wrong Relationship, Get Out.

They were divorced, or didn't you know that?

Um, domestic assault is treated as a more serious crime than other assault, not as a less serious crime.

No. Just the way they "report" it.
