If family members send money, at least they are spending it on legal recreation instead of cigs and crack. Of course this should be after they purchase what they need...i.e. soap, toothpaste, deodorant etc.
You are terribly misinformed. If they have cell phones or tablets, it is contraband. Some states do allow MP3 players and they do permit purchase of songs. The songs purchases are monitored and lyrical content with foul language, gang, drug, violent, etc references are not permitted. Money is put on a Jpay account so inmates can call from a prison phone, not inmate phones.
Maybe society should figure out punishments that actually fit the crimes that they committed. Locking millions up in little boxes that the people have to pay for is insane anyway.
Put them to work in the fields or terminate them.
