The BC requirement is a federal requirement. The state of PA bent over backwards and opponents still were not satisfied.

I wouldn't call it a boogieman when you have a single small county in Florida where 100 people were found to have fraudulent registrations with some of them voting simply by comparing voting rolls to jury forms.

I'm all in favor of voter ID as long as there is no dollar cost to getting said ID. I had to pay $63 to get mine.

Hi,
I am an Obamabot and live in a city.

I support Photo IDs for buying guns. It is common sense that it helps show who it is getting the back ground check and buying the gun. Yes, photo IDs can be faked, but it certainly reduces fraud that is why we insist on them for buying guns. That is why we insist on them for attending events with Obama like the Democratic National Convention. Anyways 99% of people already have a photo ID that is acceptable anyways...poor people already have them to get their welfare.

I do not support Photo IDs for voting. You can fake a photo ID. You don't know the exact amount of fraud, so we will fight against you even quantifying that more. Giving 1% of the population a free ID could cripple our economy it would be so expensive - even though that defeats our whole stimulus argument we had just made.

I would write more, but I haven't heard the latest talking points from my party bosses, so I don't know what to think yet.

Since when? If you're going to say Since Real ID, states are free to issue voter ID without BC. That ID is insufficient to board a plane. but it will get you into the voting booth..

Does Real ID require BC at each renewal of ID? That's what tripped me up; I had to pay for BC in order to get initial ID and then had to pay again for BC in order to renew my ID.

OR $40 to renew; plus $15 to NYC for BC required in order to renew ID, plus $8 to the third-party vendor NYC uses to process online BC requests.

And the legislators who voted for this knew darn well that young people were likely to be the biggest losers even if the general public did not. One might wonder if that was an intended outcome rather than an unintended consequence.

Is this website wrong, that in the state of New York you need an ID to register - or to vote your first time, but never again after that...and an ID can consist of a check pay stub, bank statement, or utility bill...

Were you buying a driver's license that you needed for driving and didn't need to register or vote with?
