Back in my native rust belt we still have folks that think the glory days can return. That would be the man works his 40 hours in the mill while the wife stays home with the kids. Insurance is affordable, new car in the drive , Fido, the white picket fence...all with no education/skills required.

That thinking is delusional as well. The door shut for good on that way of life in the late 70s/early 80s.

It's a balancing act. If something is going good for folks whether that be the industrial might of the rust belt, logging in the PNW, drilling in the Dakotas, or what California was back in the day...it's only a matter of time before the oligarchs in the private and public sector conspire to rape the hell out of the situation leaving behind those who played by the rules with lint in their pockets.

You and I are just trying to tamper the level of resentment. It's a shame what happened to California or Detroit for that matter. I'm sure both places were fantastic for the common man back in the day.

But us regular folks can't focus all our energy on the fake blame game between the two "sides" in government. It's the government itself that is set up to pillage and plunder. How many times have we seen it? Look at all of my examples.

I didn't set out to capitalize on California's fate. They made me learn a foreign language in school. I picked Spanish. Then my first job after high school had me working with a large number of Puerto Ricans so my language skills flourished.

Tomorrow, if the powers that be in Sacramento and D.C. decide French speaking immigrants from Quebec are necessary to drive the economy I'm screwed.

That really is the point: we are at the mercy of the whims of gangsters...D and R alike...no difference. My hope is that regular people focus most of if not all of their energy in fighting the source of the disease: government itself. The "winners" and "losers" between us regular folks shouldn't spend all their energy fighting each other. We aren't the enemy. They are (government).
Agreed. Great post by the way. My life in California isn't ruined, just coming to an end. And thankfully I can still make it out of here financially ahead of the game. I hope your generation is that lucky.

Is 2050 a good estimate?
Actually, I think Mexico would prefer to be annexed by the U.S. so the few remaining that haven't yet come over, can be taken care of too.

Default Square up California

Since California does not follow the Constitution and fails to enforce laws. All of those State Officials should be removed from Office including Gov Brown. If Arizona can get sued by Holder for upholding federal law California should be held account for not enforcing laws.

Turn over to Mexico , never.

Under new management yes! Can you imagine a California ran by actual Californians?

Right now they wouldn't do anything militarily against the US.

However if the crap hit the fan in America, even in certain localities, they'd stick their noses in to protect their own investments. Just like we used to do in Mexico, Haiti, Central America, etc.

Let them try. It'd be suicide for China. China's time in the sun is about done. Kinda like Japan 20 years back.

The country I'd be watching would be India.
