It's about not continuing to punish the Cuban people.
The punishment of the Cuban people has solely been the province of the Castros. America has nothing to do with it. Cuba has openly traded with the rest of the world for decades. Any hardship felt in Cuba is a direct result of the geriatric government of that island, which clings to a pathetic form of authoritarian Marxism. And now our President has agreed to underwrite its continuance...
There's a NJ cop killer in Cuba who fled there and was granted asylum years ago. Will she be given up now or will she remain there? NJ Governor Chris " Jabba" Christy has been very silent about it and apparently wants to test the political wind before committing to a position.
BTW, such issues are most effectively made when two governments have normal diplomatic relations. Working through third parties makes criminal extradition immensely more difficult.
Of course, it should be noted that a heck of a lot of European countries won't turn fugitives over to the US for different reasons.

Sorry, you have me confused with someone who cares about the niceties of dictatorships and extradition. My post was just to bring ice tea up to speed.
Oh, and the Europeans enjoy twitting America. I notice that they keep our cemeteries mowed, though.

then Obama should invade Cuba and force out of power the problem which is the totalitarian government. Opening the market and giving the government credit will do NOTHING to the average Cuban people but make very wealthy a few in that government.
"Early in his term, President Obama received the Nobel Prize not for actions he’d already taken, but for actions yet to be. Given what he has been doing in foreign policy—the nuclear negotiations with Iran, the climate change agreement with China, and this agreement with Cuba, it’s now time to say that the Nobel Committee was right: he earned it."

I couldent have said it better. I do not understand why people cannot grasp this.
Does anyone really think the Cubans are just going to let American companies waltz in and do business? As it is Cuba regularly seizes 100% of the income from many of the few European business ventures allowed on the island.

Just as I expected, Obama gave away the store and we will get zippo in return . The Republicans should refuse to lift the Embargo absent concessions from the Castro regime.
Either one of you willing to turn over all fugitives from Cuban justice back to the Castro brothers in exchange for those American fugitives?
So far, none of you have been willing to answer that question.

You're gonna be a part of that invasion force?
