He in no way turned his back on the police officers when he made that speech.
Bad cops are bad cops, A Good Cop should never be offended by a bad cop being called out for doing something wrong and that is what de Balsio said.
He did put them up to harassing people selling single smokes on the street. He's not exactly clean here. IMO he was trying to deflect blame and anger.
I wonder if he put any pressure at all to present the proper charges to the grand jury or did he refuse to get involved then or worse, actually back the D.A. here?
Why is everyone on the cops side? Are we all forgetting the massive corruption rampant in the NYPD? I'm not excusing the murders in the least, but it seems all DeBlasio wants to do is bring accountability back to the police which is something they should want if they're real police. If they want the corruption, then they're just thugs with badges.
And what is the percentage of this corruption ? Why are they all now being labeled as thugs with badges ?

Agreed, but I'd begin by asking why is everyone taking sides? This is far from a black-and-white issue (no pun).

You do realize that the NYPD does not deny that they racially profile and that the police does not deny that they treat male suspects different than women as well as taking hieght and weight into account right ?????
There for how is telling your son to be more cautious around police a problem in your mind ?
And his entire speech was about bad cops, did you honestly go in and think he was talking about all Cops ????
No one person or group is to "blame" just like there is no one person or group that can "fix this".
Agreed. If you feel this way, why are you speaking about "taking sides?"
