I'm going to let you pretend, out here in public, that there is no proof of what I am saying even though it's all over the internet, in site after site, including a Washington Post story on 9/22/14 because I want people to see how dishonest you are. The Bush quote is one of many.

As I've said multiple times on this post, people really need to take a look at themselves. If someone questioning your faith upsets you so much, you should be asking yourself why. I did this and I realized it was because I had no real connection to my Christian faith. My faith was too weak and once questioned, I became defensive instead of thoughtful. Changed my life.

Christians are not the only important people in the world. They've gone hundreds of years thinking they were and people are now more willing to point this out. It's not discrimination or disrespectful; it's fact. There are legitimate forms of disrespectful and hatred throughout the world. Jokes on twitter (none of those jokes, by the way, made any false of unbelievable claims) should not be getting the kind of response they've gotten.
Wrong, what you are defending is petty. Any adult of any faith would recognize this.

Got a link to that very specific claim?

What am I even defending? Jokes on twitter? The right to question things? What exactly is it that you feel I'm defending and why is it petty?

I ask this not expecting an answer. Everything that every offended person on this thread has said has been intentionally vague. They have no rational reason to back up their overreaction to a few jokes, so they just act as if his jokes were wildly offensive when they very clearly weren't. All of them were just fun. They were also all true. Newton changed the world and was born Dec 25. Jews and Muslims will see Christmas as just another Thursday. I'll say again; if comments like this offend you, you do not have a strong understanding of your own beliefs and values.

I love Tyson. He shows how easy it is to twist the undies of fundamentalists. All you have to do is tell the truth.

Haha! I am sure he said something like the world is more than 7,000 years old. How dare the guy!

Interesting, he gets hired to teach science, he does research which he publishes in peer-reviewed science journals, he gets elected to office in professional societies ...

There is more at the link. Tyson is a mega-troll, but who knew before this year? In any case, we all know now. Tyson picked 2014 to come out as a troll in true high profile splendor.

My favorite quote by him is "Who would be stupid enough to put the entertainment complex next to the sewage plant?"

He was referring to sex, mocking Intelligent Design (snicker).

"I don't know if I can take 67 more..."...

If you follow sites like twitchy.com, you'd know that they even freak out over his non-religious stuff. The last time they flew entirely off the handle, he was jokingly wondering if the founding fathers would have written 12 amendments to the constitution if humans all had 12 fingers.

Man, Cosmos messed with them hard. May as well have called it "Neil Degrasse Tyson and Ann Druyan are tired of these knuckleheads."
