It is well known that the word ‘democracy’ originates from Ancient Greece and means ‘power of the people’. Such an idea, in its literal sense, encompassing economic, political and social democracy does not exist anywhere in the world. This is primarily because the planet’s resources, many of which human beings need in order to live, do not belong to the people as a whole. Instead, they are in the hands of a small, privileged, rich minority. Such extremely limited political ‘democracy’ as does exist in parts of the modern world, is scarcely even a shadow of what genuine democracy will be like when it is finally put into practice
Well, do we really have democracy in the US? No? And how do we get it?

Well, do we really have democracy in the US? No? And how do we get it?
Eliminating the Electoral College would be a good start.
Democracy is a majority rule system. The opinions of the many become the rule for everyone. So basically, it would be a disaster. The system we have, dealing with a constitutional republic and representatives, while not perfect, is preferable to just everyone getting together and doing whatever pleases the most people.
That's not to say democracy is actually a bad system. It's not. But the US is incredibly diverse. Democracy loses efficiency and actual fairness with the amount of diversity and number of people it serves. Democracy would be fine for small towns or local areas, but trying to apply it to an entire state, nation, or even large city would be a terribly unfair idea because some people would be at risk of losing certain rights. They may be the minority, but they are still members of society.
There has never been nor will there ever be such a thing as a 'democracy' as it is defined for any long-term civil system.
It is ludicrous to even believe such a thing could actually exist. A society can appear to be a democracy if enough dogma is ground out & into the popular culture, but in reality that has more to do with autocratic suggestion foisting its desire unto a seriously feeble-minded population via obfuscation and misdirection.
A democracy by its own definition is mob rule with a veneer of stability beyond a riot or revolution. Even as it endures for its short time there is no democracy just guidance under the ruse of being 'by the people, for the people'- but there is always a small group benefiting exclusively when the masses are whipped into a frenzy.
Democracy is about fooling the largest group of people with a belief that their whims are being catered to so as to keep them in order. Nothing more and nothing whatsoever about respecting something as unstable as a majority rule.

And those small groups tend to hoard the resources and wealth, not large 'democracies' given fiat affluence as a bribe, as a taste.
