No, they're fundamentalists because.....they're fundamentalists. I dare you to meet my muslim friends & then say that they want all of us dead. It's a stupid ignorant thing to think. Try using logic, you'll be amazed at how easy it is.
If there's anything you can count on it's another Muslim atrocity followed quickly by a Muslim apologist claiming, "oh, it's not really Islam, it's just "extremists". Well, if it happens over and over and over and over than maybe it really IS Islam and it's the apologists who are willfully ignorant and in denial.
There are about 300,000,000 (three hundred million) Muslims in the world. Estimates are 15% to 25% of them are militant extremists. Being conservative that's at least 45,000,000 (forty five million) that want you dead. When you're in a war it's usually a good idea knowing who your enemies are. "Terror" is not the enemy; Islam is the enemy and when you allow them to continue to invade, I mean immigrate into your country you're also importing their barbaric "values" which includes war on women, war on gays, war on each other, war on free speech and civil liberties of any kind, war on anything and everything they disagree with. Atrocities and torture is their version of civil discourse. It's how they solve their differences.
This is just an continuation of the ancient conflict between the desert nomadic cultures and the settled farmers and citified merchants. The first is a culture of faith, male superiority and blood feud condemned to everlasting misery. The latter is civilization itself based on and regulated by some variant of Law. Civilized life created the cultures that morphed into our Western way of life with respect for the individual under the law. We could not and cannot abide or submit to the barbarians. We have to assimilate them or destroy them. That will be their choice.

Islam is as Islam does. Contemporary Islam involves this sort of thing regularly. Islam isn't some pure abstract thing that exists apart from ..itself. Islam, like all religions, is man-made and therefore becomes what men make it.
If this was an occasional one off sort of thing ... well it wouldn't mean much as far as Islam goes. It is not rare though nowadays, its a regular part of it and millions of muslims, a sizeable minority, not just 10 or 20 people, profess and avow that this is part of Islam - and so .....it is.
Look at Christianity back in the day - the inquisition, the crusades and other murders- all done in the name of, and part of, Christianity of the day.
This is the problem with virtually all religions, the preposterous certainty and non-negotiable "truths." And how seriously they take themselves when deep down inside, when they are honest, they all know that they cannot actually be certain.

This is a political problem masquerading as a religious problem. People who are optimistic about their future don't accessorize with dynamite and blow up markets. Get rid of the oppressive regimes and the terrorism will abate.
Problem is that we've been going about getting rid of the oppressive regimes in the worst way possible. Culture will win where bombs will not. This constant invasion we've been waging for almost 20 years now has done nothing but to foster a "circle the wagons" mentality in the countries where we wage war.
We could have sent them blockbuster movies, Coca Cola, blue jeans and Victoria's Secret -- costs less and works better.

Unfortunately blue jeans only temporarily worked in Russia - now everything is going to pieces again. Perhaps its time for another Levis shipment.
