The data says the U.S. has higher rates of gun violence than countries with similar levels of development. Not looking good for your argument.
Apparently even a government study concedes that there are at least 100,000 self defense uses each year.

I fully support the 2nd amendment right to own guns and I do appreciate the NRA's work but they lost my support. I did sign up when it looked like there might be some real attacks on the 2nd but I got sick and tired of all the email's and phone calls.
