Unless they want to use it to fire up their base ala abortion.

Gay marriage, and the tying it into politics and using it for popular vote.
And how people use people to get what THEY want.
Just as I do with Illegal immigration.

This really became a political issue in 2004 when Rove and company made it one.

What they do with their base won't hurt them.

He would absolutely bring it up

Best statement so far. And that vocal minority will sink you with the majority.

I think if they forgot them for Democrats, they'll forget them for Republicans.

But it could hurt them with moderates. Anything they say will be put out there for all to see, and many don't like flip floppers.

Possibly, but if they are out trying to appease their far right base like they do with abortion issues, then turn around and change their tune it could look bad.

So hardly anyone wants to ban interracial marriage again, or wants to do something about the Supreme Court's overturn against sodomy laws.

I've been saying this all along. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of gay marriage, it will provide the GOP with political cover. This is sure to bring relief to the more moderate wing who no longer needs to appeal to the far-right on this issue in primaries.
It's over. It worked really well in 2004, but that's it. Forget about it. Come up with a new strategy.

The country has turned the corner, and we're not going back.
