In his SOTU speech last night, BO mentioned something about 'ever try raising a family on minimum wage?' (or something to that effect)
To which I responded: "If you're only qualified to earn minimum wage, you shouldn't be having a family you're trying to feed"
Is that too harsh?
That is the kind of BS that only an American would say.
urbanlife78:"Actually I believe in the US consenting adults regardless of their financial status is free to have sex and have children."
Cut off all welfare to them, and I'd agree. Otherwise, they are the dependents of taxpayers, and as such, they should not have the freedom those who are self-sufficient have.
So someone gets to make bad life decisions and get taken care of indefinatly, then gets to have more children and get more money.
Stupid no longer hurts in America.
People should rely on their family for support instead of the government.
It is a shame people can't just rely on their work paying an appropriate wage for 2015. But that would be too much for "everyone should work harder for less pay America."

The employers pay an appropriate wage, one which the employer and the employee agree to a compensation package to compensate for work performed.

So those that need assistance should lose their freedoms? How very unAmerican of you to say that. Those who need assistance are also taxpayers, so you contradict yourself with your own statement.
urbanlife78, As long as they are on the dole, their behavior should be regulated. Once they are off the dole, they should be free to do as they wish. If they wish that freedom forever, just stay off the dole.

So if you get a tax break or tax credit of any kind, are you now on the "dole?" What if one has a good paying job and two kids and then gets laid off and has to take a minimum wage job and ask for assistance. Should the government take away their children because they can no longer afford to have them?
Sorry, but freedom in the US isn't meant to be given out based on how wealthy someone is.
