There are plenty of women who'd be able to pass the test for men, if people would give them the chance and stop underestimating them.

The military is supposed to be there to defend us. Not to prosecute overseas wars. Its supposed to be for DEFENSE. We could do that at half the spending or less then we do today. Don't try and claim its some great thing to go overseas and kill people. It doesn't make us safer.

If the Iraq war caused more debt, why has the debt nearly doubled under Obama since he got us out of Iraq (before he figured that he now wants us back in Iraq)? There are now over 3,000 military back in Iraq. Maybe they are not costing a dime.

Why didn't you mention the Afghanistan war? That was longer.

The increase in social program funding such as food stamps, disability SS, unemployment, and all the bailouts is driving up the debt. We are now at $18 trillion in debt. Lets see what the debt was in 2008...

Well if you look at the rest of NATO; they don't even spend 2% required by NATO rules. They can't do anything really. In fact the US has declined a lot since the Gulf War. You can't get a American to work for what the Chinese make on average either. Plus other spending has risen much more than military. Security is number #1 priority of the federal government.

Hello?? The best defense is a good offense. Sometimes we have to go overseas to eliminate the enemies of us and our allies. Otherwise, they'll try to attack us, a la 9/11, 7/7, etc.

Funny how liberals never worry how to pay for ANYTHING until it comes to Defense spending. Here's how you pay for it CUT EVERYTHING ELSE!
Well that's one way of rationalizing spending more.

It's actually incredible that the U.S. is spending a similar percentage on Defence as we did in 1940.

In 1940 there were about 222,000 Social Security beneficiaries. Today, there are more than 64 million.

In 1940 there were no Medicare beneficiaries. Today, there are about 50 million.

1n 1940 there were no Medicaid/ CHIP beneficiaries. Today there are about 70 million.

Interest on accumulated Defence/ War debt does not reflect in the Defence cost bucket.

Veterans Benefits do not reflect in the Defence cost bucket.

Social Security and Medicare and Health account for about 60% of the current budget. Eliminate these spends to make an apples to apples comparison of Defence Spending, 1940 versus right now. It's jaw dropping.

It looks like a lot of people who post here get a check from Uncle Sam and the DOD. How do you explain the support for hosing taxpayers of one trillion dollars every year? What happened to the Tea Party? It looks like they are AWOL when it comes to hosing taxpayers for defense spending.

Ah yes, the fiscal conservative party applying that to everything except the military; which of course means weapons manufacturing gets to make money, which probably means some politicians are getting bought off to be ok with this. Because, you know, democracy isn't cheap.

Is this a joke? We spend more than any nation on the planet. In fact, we spend more then then next top 20 spends COMBINED. Who the hell are we fighting that requires this much funding? Because ISIS certainly doesn't require this. They aren't even our business.

Aggressive China? You don't seriously think China is going to take any military action do you? Worst case scenario, it's a Cold War like situation. But they ain't gonna be stupid enough to attack us.

They attacked us on 9/11 because we wouldn't mind our own business. It's easy for you to say sitting in your living room also.
