At the Feb. 10 hearing, several members did not want to confirm Rachel Beyda to the association’s judicial board, the committee that determines if the student government’s actions comply with its bylaws. Essentially council members argued Beyda’s Jewish heritage is not compatible with the interests of the UCLA student government.

UCLA student told she could not serve

Looks like the anti-semites aren't just in Europe these days.

Okay, I stopped here:

Student government member Fabienne Roth commenced the question period by asking Beyda: “Given that you are a Jewish student and very active in the Jewish community, given that recently…(inaudible)…has been surrounding cases of conflict of interest, how do you see yourself being able to maintain an unbiased view in…(inaudible)…?”

Those two inaudibles kinda make the statement meaningless. Recently what? Unbiased view in what?

People much closer to the facts of this matter have given the most reliable insight into what occurred:

Isn't it interesting how the left wingers who immediately assumed racism in the Ferguson case and the Martin case and assume racism motivates voter ID laws etc all of a sudden are interested in reserving judgment and getting all the facts when it comes to a case of a racism charge being leveled at a left wing university against a Jew. Funny how the standards change when they're the ones on the defensive side of an accusation.

Pfft, I'm Liberal and think this is absolutely disgusting. I hope she sues the snot out of the school. I would imagine that if she was Palestinian and part of anti Israel groups the same questions wouldn't be asked.

Wow. That's a compelling statement from Ms. Montero... she "believes."

Would we be so quick to defend it if the incident had occurred with so-called right-wingers... Or would that be grounds for a rant of broad-sweeping generalizations supposedly proving how "immoral" they all are?

The question is which of the sides was the one that committed immoral intolerance? That's the issue here - neither you nor I were there. Meanwhile, someone with a vested interest in pointing in one direction pointed in the other direction. Of course, you seem to be consistently blind to the credibility that stems from supporting perspectives that don't benefit one's self personally.

This anti-semitism is getting out of hand....leave it in Europe, we don't want or need it here any more than what we already have.

They think she's going to get in their way when they attempt to pressure the school to enact future boycotts of Israel.

Liberal enclaves tend to be heavily populated with bigots-why is this any surprise? I would think the victim would have a EEOC case. Lil' Eric Holder better jump right on this one.
