I don't think that Christ was a secularist at all, and He didn't indicate any support for big government programs.
I'd say Jesus Christ really advocated more for a monarchist form of government, His supporters called Him the "king of kings", and He listened with an air of approval.
What big government programs existed for him to accept or reject?
I never claimed it was, I personally come here because I like the little bit of entertainment I get from it. I just thought it was ironic that the one who started a thread complaining about all the trivial threads starts a trivial thread.
Regardless, I don't think Jesus, if he were real, would be any member of any political party.

He didn't push for Tiberius to start any kind of food stamp program or nationalized health care for the people, or to mandate health insurance purchase.
The RE was an advanced civilization, they certainly had the ability to force people to turn in their used chariots in a "cash for cluckers" program so they could buy another. But Christ never advocated that Tiberius or the Senate do so.
I think it's interesting that Christians are taught to love your neighbor as yourself, don't murder, steal, covet...yet almost all ignore that when it comes to government. They covet their neighbors' property, steal through taxation and debt, murder through war, and certainly dont treat their neighbor as they would be treated when they advocate force to control their lives. You could make an argument that Jesus was an anarchist. "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me"...which would mean, human laws should be ignored if they go against his teachings (I'd change it to individual human rights in general).
I'm not sure that's true or not, I'm not a Christian anymore, and it doesn't make much difference, but still interesting I suppose.
